“Hello! We purchased EarBuddies in October for our daughter. We were desperate to find something to try to help her progressively worse drooping ears. We were very frustrated because she was already 4 months old, her drooping ears were getting worse (one was almost folding over at the top) and even her Pediatrician didn’t seem to care. “Emma was born with a rim kink in her left upper ear lobe. At first, I thought it was because she had her left hand against her face when she was born and it was pressing her ear. I thought it would pop out in a few days, but when I didn't see any changes after a few days, I started to get a bit worried that she will grow up with a permanent ear deformity. I started googling about ear deformities in newborns and came across EarBuddies. I was hesitant at first and part of me was still hoping that her ear would naturally be fixed, but when she was 2 weeks old and seeing no changes in her ear, I decided to order the kit and give it a try.

Her first fitting was at 3 weeks old. She was asleep in my arms as I fitted the splints and she remained surprisingly asleep the whole time. The tape started to come off after a week, so I took off everything and refitted her. I was very pleased then to see the improvement of her kink after just one week.

The tapes only lasted 7-9 days so I refitted her each time. I was hoping to be done with the fitting after 4 weeks, but at that point she still had a slight kink so I decided to refit her for another week. Getting the splint to the right shape to fix her kink was tricky since I couldn't quite get the splint to push out the kink in the corners of her ear. After another 10 days, I only saw a slight improvement so I was going to end the fitting. But after 2 and a half weeks without splints, I kept thinking about if I could give it another try to make any improvements. Since I had some tape left, I decided to use it up so I don't have any regrets. The tape stayed on for another 10 days, at which point it didn't really make much improvement but I was glad I gave it a last try. Her ear is not perfectly smooth compared to her other ear but much better. I'm very happy that I decided to try EarBuddies early and not wait any longer.”

“Evan commenced treatment at 2 weeks old. He is currently 4 weeks old. We met the paediatrician regarding tongue tie release, which occurred on day 5 of life, and asked the paediatrician about ears, and he recommended this treatment “EarBuddies". Got online and ordered them asap. We are from Ireland and they took a very short time to arrive - approximately 4 days for delivery even with brexit. “Our sweet Amelia was born this past fall, and she was precious in every way. In fact, I was relieved to notice that her little ears were perfectly tucked back, and that she did not inherit her mommy's stick out ears. But at 3 months old, I began to notice her ears poking out. “I just wanted to thank you for this product. My daughter was born with one malformed ear. We didn’t know what to do and likely were going to consider surgery when she got older until we found out about ear buddies. Although we were both skeptical at first we decided to try the product. "Logan was born with a misshapen ear, called a Stahl's Bar. At 2 days old we splinted it with an EarBuddie. 2 weeks later we removed the EarBuddie and his ear had reshaped nicely. The last photo is his ear at 6 weeks old."

"Our son, O, was born with stick out ears. It wasn't extreme, and we weren't sure whether to do anything about it, but when a family member shouted "Look at those!" when seeing him the first time over Skype, we decided that most other people must have been too shy to say anything.

We found EarBuddies online, and since O was still only three weeks old, we decided to try them while the wearing period was still short. We didn't even bother using the hat, and we were surprised at how little we were asked about his ears while splinted – with friends, doctors and anyone else, we usually brought it up ourselves if at all.

Splinting was fiddly but not too hard, and we found it best to do while breastfeeding. For us, each fix lasted about 10 days, and re-fixing the EarBuddies was pretty easy having done it before already. We did have to get extra tape to see out the full term, as breastfeeding meant it would take an extra 25%.

"Jenson is now 7 months post EarBuddies and every single day I am so thankful that we was able to correct his ears without the pain that comes with surgery. I really wish they got so much more recognition from professionals such as midwives and health visitors."

"Even before the birth of my child, I was well aware of Mr David Gault and I knew about his development of EarBuddies. When little Zachary arrived, his ears seemed absolutely perfect, along with the rest of him. However, as the weeks passed, the tops of both ears started to protrude. I gently mentioned this to my wife, who, a little reluctantly, agreed with me. In a subsequent conversation with her, I mentioned EarBuddies, explained how they worked and described what we would have to do in order to correct our baby’s ears. Thankfully she, knowing my personal views on the matter, agreed to go ahead with the procedure.

At this point, we were due to go on a 2 ½ week holiday to my wife’s family in Eastern Europe. We decided to start with EarBuddies on our return to the UK, when Zachary would be 3.5 months old. In our experience, no one – strangers, friends, acquaintances or family – were openly critical of our use of EarBuddies. Some people were curious. Some were indifferent. Some supportive. I was so grateful of my wife’s support, as she was the one spending most of the time with Zachary. They went to places like the supermarket or his play group, where people were most likely to ask questions about the bandages (which are discrete and can easily be covered with a baby beanie).

In terms of fitting EarBuddies, the key for us was preparation and establishing routine. Early on a Sunday morning, we would gently remove the adhesive bandages. Shortly afterwards, he would get a bath, including a shampoo hair wash (which is not possible when the bandages are on). After a minimum of 90 minutes to dry (and some milk for Zachary), I would then apply the splints and bandages, while my wife held Zachary, who would enjoy cartoons on a TV. This process took up the best part of the morning every two weeks, and, in total, we performed seven applications of EarBuddies. I wish we had started the splinting while Zachary was a bit younger, perhaps before we went on holiday, as this would have reduced the number of applications. I am nevertheless so very happy with the results.

Living with abnormal/deformed ears causes significant life-changing psychological problems. I know this from first-hand experience of having protruding ears. It causes bullying in children and low self-confidence as an adult. An operation at 7 years old to pin them back failed. As did remedial operations at 13 years old and 23 years old. These procedures were financially costly, painful and, ultimately, disappointing. Close to giving up hope with respect to my ears, I came across Mr Gault during internet research. He skilfully reconstructed my ears in 2014 when I was 35 years old. I can’t recommend EarBuddies highly enough. I’m absolutely sure that they have made a significantly positive difference to my son’s life."

"My little one was born with a Conchal Crus deformity, in which there is an abnormal fold of cartilage dividing the mid portion of the concha. I honestly was at a loss of what to do initially and was worried about an increased incidence of ear infections and other issues as my little one got older with this deformity. I came across EarBuddies online, however, and decided that it was worth a try.

I purchased EarBuddies and within a week or so received the kit. It was pretty easy to use and my little one was not bothered by the placement. Within one week we saw major improvement already (as seen in the middle photo) and were so excited. Once our treatment time, as recommended, was over, we were amazed at the results. "When my Daughter was born at full term it looked as if her little ears had been folded up the entire time she was developing in utero. Her ears had mostly “unfolded” by the time we went to her one month checkup with the exception of her right helical rim. It had a kink in it that almost made it pointed, like an elf ear. We asked the pediatrician at her one month appointment if there was anything that can be done to put some curl into the rim of her ear and were told there’s a surgical option at around five years old. We even contacted an ENT specialist friend of ours who told us almost the same thing the pediatrician had, however he added that the ear is fairly pliable until about six months of age and to mold her ear as often as we can just by working it with our hands.

At that point we started researching, thinking it must be a fairly common thing and learned there are multiple ear deformities and hers was called Stahl's Bar or Stahl's Ear. So we started researching Stahl's Ear remedies. We found a couple of ear bracing options in the US - very costly, poorly designed, and poorly marketed products - so we kept looking until we found EarBuddies. Before you even buy you can see that EarBuddies is made to correct several different types of ear deformities and malformations, it looked easy to use and the directions are on the website, the product did not require a doctor or specialist to place the splints, and the purchase price was extremely reasonable.

We ordered a kit and placed the splint when our Daughter was about nine weeks old. We followed the directions and changed the tapes every two weeks, cleaning her ear and letting it breathe for about a day before replacing the splint and tapes. She wore the splint a total of eight weeks. You could definitely tell a difference in how her ear was holding the new, normal shape each time we changed the tapes.

I’m so thankful we found this product! It was non-invasive, easy to use, cost effective, and gave our Daughter perfect little ears in very little time. The hardest part was trimming the hair around her ears!

"First of all I just want to say thank you EarBuddies! Maisie was born with her lower lobes sticking out and it wasn’t actually me who noticed but the midwife in the hospital. Initially they just recommended for us to monitor her ears and that “she will grow out of them”. Luckily the midwife who did our home visit noticed Maisie’s ear and mentioned EarBuddies. "'When Baby T was born, he was 5 weeks early and the cartilage was folded over on his ear. I did not want to spend the time postpartum to go see a specialist for something that may correct itself. I did find EarBuddies online. I ordered them for about $90 and used them as much as T would tolerate just placing them in the proper position and using the beanie hat to secure them. I did not even go so far as to tape them as recommended, but they were magical. You would never know today based on his perfect little ears!'

"We noticed very early after he was born that his ears were not only a little misshapen [Folded-Over Helical Rim] but they also looked like two different ears. At his two week appointment with his Pediatrician, I asked her if there was anything that we could do to help correct his ear shape. She told us that we only had two options. One, we could leave them alone and see if their shape changes as he gets older. Two, we could wait until he was a few years old and if we still were concerned about their shape we could look into getting him corrective surgery. We just did not accept this as an answer.

We thought that surely there was something that we could do...long story short, I went on the internet and did a ton of research. I came across a message board where a mother had used EarBuddies to correct her sons ears. She shared the link for the website. I went on the website, saw that the earlier you splint them the better. After going back and forth for a few weeks...and more research, we decided to purchase EarBuddies when our son was 5 weeks old. They arrived very quickly! The day they arrived we immediately went to work putting them on. It took a little bit of time to get it right but not too bad, and our son was not bothered one bit by the fitting process! We left them on 24/7, changing the tape, and making sure his ears stayed clean every week. After 3 weeks of splinting the results were nothing short of amazing!

His ears went from looking like two different ears, pointed and squished, to looking perfectly shaped and almost identical. We followed the directions on the EarBuddies website and left the splints on an additional two weeks to finish out our five weeks. The splints came off when he was 10 weeks old. (We splinted from 5 weeks old to 10 weeks old) and our son is now 14 weeks old with perfectly shaped ears! I am so glad that we decided to order these! Best decision ever.

When we went back to his Pediatrician for his 2 month follow up appointment, we decided to show his Pediatrician his results and let her know that we were splinting with EarBuddies. "I was told by the paediatrician to wait 3 months from birth before taking him to see anyone. She said his ears may have been squashed in the womb and it may sort itself out! "My baby boy George was born with lop ears on both sides; the right worse than the left. It was sadly the first thing people commented on from day 1 and led to significant anxiety in both myself and my husband. I had no knowledge of how the deformity would progress so started doing some research online. "We did to our son when he turned 6 months, his ear cartilage had not hardened in utero so when he was born his ears were perfect but we started to notice they were unraveling and starting to droop. "Rivi had ears that were out of shape when he was born (Folded-Over Helical Rim). His older brother never had problems but as a precaution, we thought we’d give EarBuddies a try. They were easy to put on and stayed on well, if you follow the instructions. We took them off sometimes to clean the ears, and then put them back on after, say, a bath etc.

The hardest part was our family members saying “oh, don’t be silly, you don’t need to put that on him” etc. But now the before and after pics seem to have everyone agreeing that the after pics are much better. So keep that in mind and be sure to ignore the naysayers during treatment. The end result is what counts – do the long-term best for your child, don't let others' short-term beliefs stop you. It will be worth it, trust me."

"My daughter Carter was born with one ear folded over (lop ear). The doctors said that it would naturally unfold as she grew. This was not the case. N.B. In some cases, as above, parents are lucky in that baby’s cartilage is malleable, and therefore moulds easily, and the cartilage then hardens and retains the corrected shape quickly. However, we would always recommend splinting for the full recommended time for best results.

"Our son Jasper was born with two completely different ears: one that stuck out (left) and another that had a deformity on the top rim (right). We thought it gave him character. It wasn’t until he was about three months old however, that we noticed his stick out ear becoming more prominent. Our main concern was that it would continue to get worse and that he would be teased when he got older.

I did some research about ear splinting online and called a plastic surgeon's office here in Chicago. However, they informed me that they don’t do it past six weeks old. Disappointed, I searched further and thankfully found EarBuddies, which said he was well within the age range! "Mr Gault fixed my ears as an adult - his EarBuddies fixed my newborn baby! When I was 10 I had an operation by a surgeon to fix my 'bat ears'. It went horrendously wrong and I had severe ear deformity. Years went by and I was told by many plastic surgeons that the ears were too damaged and nothing could be done. When I was 27, I found Mr Gault who successfully, over a couple of surgeries, fixed my ears. He released them from flat against my head, and brought in the spock top bits and the sticky out ear lobes. His final operation on me actually made my ears smaller. "We took my son, Jesse, to see Dr. David Gault when he was almost 4 months old, as he had an ear which would always fold over and cause a bat ear effect. "Our bundle of joy arrived on 09th August 2016. When we looked at the baby carefully, we noticed that her ears missed the upper fold and they appeared wide open. Upon consulting the doctor, we were told it would most likely fix by itself in few weeks’ time. We waited for about 2 months and that’s when things got furious as there were no signs of any improvements. My wife quickly began researching about ear deformities in new born and learnt that our little one had Stahl’s Bar. "What an amazing product! This is Louis, (left photo) 4 months old when we started with the splints and (right photo) 7 months old when we finished using the splints! What can I say, the splints have really helped and made such a difference. I highly recommend this product to anyone whose baby suffers with stick-out ears.

When Louis was born his ears seemed fine but by 3 - 4 months we started to notice how soft the top part of the ear was and it started to lose shape, flop forward and fold in half when Louis laid on either side of his head. My husband came across your product and we thought we would give it a go. (As I had the same issue when I was little and had to go through 3 operations to correct my ears and I don't want Louis to go though the same.)

As you can see from the photos the splints have really helped hugely by reshaping the gully and moving the top part of the ear back. Now when Louis lays on either side of his head the ear does not fold in half. We are so pleased and so glad a product has been designed to help to save the little people from having to go through a painful, expensive operation. "When our daughter was born, her left ear was folded forward. It flopped forward for weeks but we were told this would correct itself. In the first few weeks after birth, it became clear that she also had prominent ears. We followed public health recommendations and slept her on her back, which caused her prominent ears to fold forward when she turned her head. This folding started to change the shape of her ears, so that not only where they very prominent, but they were losing their folds (as seen in the first photo below). When she was 3 months old, we ordered the EarBuddies kit for older babies. It was tricky to fit the Buddies at first, but we got better at it and they certainly did not bother her. There were a few days when we had to take them off to allow areas of sensitive skin to settle down. After 3 months of application, we determined that her ears were improved, but still folded forward most of the time when lying down. We persisted for another two months. After 5 months of EarBuddies application, the shape of her ears was greatly improved. While still slightly prominent in technical terms, they fold back instead of forward most of the time now, and we use a hat in the crib, car seat, and stroller to prevent any possibility of folding forward. One month after removing the Buddies, our daughter's ears have held their new and improved shape nicely (as seen in the second photo below)."

"I just wanted to write as I am sure many people do, in order to thank you for the EarBuddies kit that has made such a big difference to our daughter Cerys. From the moment she was born I noticed that her ear on one side stuck out but unfortunately with all the new and daunting things to think about anyway upon becoming a parent for the first time we gave it no more than a glancing thought until Cerys was around 6 weeks old, when we noticed that rather than just sticking out, the 'fold' in the ear was completely missing on that side. We were both surprised at how we could have failed to notice something so unusual and also how no medical professional had spotted it either. It prompted us to undertake a little research on the subject whereupon I of course stumbled upon your website and was able to diagnose the condition as 'bat ear' as it is commonly known. After some apprehension we decided to order the kit and give it a go as we had nothing to lose but the financial outlay.

When the kit arrived we did consult with our GP because at the end of the day we were still a little wary of the idea of purchasing a kit off the internet in order to treat a medical condition that only we had spotted and self diagnosed without any kind of medical referral. The GP knew of the condition but not of the splinting treatment and whilst curious I think he was also a little bemused at the idea, as were the health visitors who would subsequently ask why her ear was taped up and to which my wife was required to almost defend her position constantly and the decision made to go ahead with the treatment without traditional direct medical referral. In total the splint was on for around 11 weeks and throughout that time we experienced many problems, mainly just due to the skin surfaces becoming reddened and inflamed as the instructions reassured us may happen, but nevertheless meant that on a few occasions we were forced to remove the splint and tape for 24/48 hour periods before reapplying in order to let the inflammation subside. By the end of the treatment I certainly became very proficient in applying the splint and tape which we found easiest to apply an hour or two after our daughter had gone to sleep. My wife would take her from the cot and sit with her in the darkened nursery whilst I carefully curled the splint into the ear and applied the tape one step at a time.

Looking back we are both so pleased that we took the time and the effort for Cerys' sake and the change that it has made to the appearance of her ear has been remarked upon not just by friends and family but also some of those same health professionals who had been openly sceptical in the beginning! In addition there is also a sense of pride and achievement for myself and my wife in taking on something that initially seemed so daunting to the parents of a 2 month old baby. Her ear was certainly not a life threatening condition and so at the time it would have been all too easy to simply ignore. Instead, we forced ourselves to look to the future and imagine how we would feel if Cerys approached us in years to come and ask why we did not at least try something so simple if it stood a chance of avoiding operative treatment and/or the potential bullying and self image issues that she may have had to face in later life.

We learnt the techniques in applying the splint and I feel that we made good decisions about when to keep the splint in place and when to remove it to allow inflammation to subside. We generally persevered whilst those around us watched on more than a little bemused but ultimately it has made it possible for us as parents to treat a medical condition ourselves which is fantastic! Cerys is around 8 months old now although was about 6 months when I started writing this E-mail it has taken me so long! I would like to take the opportunity to thank you once again for developing this product that I am sure must have changed things for scores of babies and parents, just as it has us. I certainly hope that this does encourage people to persevere even when the treatment does not quite go to plan! Very best wishes"

"Good Evening

Firstly I must thank you so much for the remarkable correction of our twins' ears. The whole process has been impressive and am so thrilled that now our twins have perfected ears.

Our story is as follows: our twins were born at 32 weeks and were in the Special care unit in Northampton for 3 weeks and were such little fighters. When they were born there wasn't any visible imperfections to their ears. It wasn't until they were getting older and starting to gain weight that we started noticing that O***** had one ear (his right ear) that was noticeably larger and a slightly different shape to his other ear. At the time we didn't think nothing of it as we didn't think it was a problem and was certainly not going to cause him a problem. As for B****** it was her left ear. Her ear was just not a "normal" shape slightly spock but just very different to her right ear. As time went on it was starting to bother me more than it was bothering the twins but I felt people were looking at their slightly abnormal ears especially O*****. But if it wasn't causing the twins any discomfort or problems then it was not the right thing for me to do anything about it. I was just prepared to see how they developed over time.

A few weeks went on and I started noticing that both the twins ears were not the 'normal' shape and were starting to become aggravated especially when they were sleeping and breast feeding. So I made an appointment to see our Health Visitor to discuss my concerns about the twins ears. I also had another concern being 'flat head syndrome' which I was unsure as to whether it could be related to their abnormal ears. So I was looking for some answers and help.

My Health Visitor was very supportive and explained to me that 'flat head syndrome' was very common and where their heads were slightly flat was the side where they were laying in their Moses baskets and was folding their ears over so they were doubled up every time they had a sleep. I noticed this every time I was to breast feed them as well. I had to make a conscious effort to always fold their ears back to their head to make sure they weren't getting squashed.

My Health Visitor was unsure as to where to guide me with the queries to their ears so advised me to go to the doctor and see what advice they could give me. She had mentioned that a surgical procedure could take place to rectify their ears. I went away and thought about what she had said and was really not keen on the twins under going surgery at a such a young age. But the thought of their ears doubling over must be so uncomfortable for them when they are sleeping and being breast fed.

So I went to see our lady doctor at our Doctors Surgery. From this day myself and my partner have never looked back. By this time, the twins ears seemed to have become more obvious and that it was just the one ear on each twin. Our Doctor was very supportive and explained why the twins' ears may have developed like this. All of a sudden it all started to make sense. She had said that being so premature as they were growing and still developing their ears were always being positioned in this way when their heads were pressed against me whilst breast feeding and on the womb their heads would have been pressing against each other so the flat head syndrome stemmed from this then obviously when they were sleeping in their Moses baskets their heads automatically turned to the flat side putting more pressure on their ears that were incorrectly developed.

The Doctor mentioned to me about 'EarBuddies' and that she had recommended them to another mum at the surgery and she said they were successful but every case is different. This idea sounded very appealing as no surgical procedure would have to take place. I went away and discussed this procedure of using 'EarBuddies' with my partner and looked at your website to gather information together and to see if I really thought that this was the best thing to do for the twins. We came to a decision to go ahead with 'EarBuddies' for the length of time suggested and see what happens. So I ordered 'EarBuddies' and we started the procedure on February 1st this year. I have to admit I was not sure how the 'EarBuddies' were going to be successful and correct the twins ears but stayed positive and followed the procedure right up until the 4 months were up (as that was their age when we started). All I can say is that you only have to look at the pictures attached to see what a difference they have made.

Both O***** and B****** now have matching ears and in perfect shape. Myself and my partner are thrilled with the results. We never expected such a huge difference. I am so glad that I went to our Doctor when we did or we would never have known about 'EarBuddies'. For the time that they were wearing the 'EarBuddies' I used to feel that people were looking and staring at them as to why they had plasters over their ears but they really were not very noticeable at all. They both now sleep and breast feed without their ears folding over and doesn't seem to bother them at all as they sit correctly in the correct place on the side of their head. "I am writing to let you know how successful your EarBuddies splints have been with my young son. When H****d was born, I noticed his ear was rather crumpled, but put it down to a difficult delivery. Weeks went by and the ear remained the same and although nobody else, i.e. doctor, midwife or health visitor, mentioned it, I thought the ear not quite right.
I remembered an article I had read in a magazine called 'You and Your Baby', and I took it to show my doctor at my six week check. Enter the Ear of the Month Award
